Why use The Guest Register?
-
How much does a Family Reunion Website cost?
The Guest Register family reunion sites cost $249. This includes one full year
of hosting. (Your site stays up for one year.) Unlike many of the web-based
reunion site providers, we charge one fee for the entire site, not a fee to
each family member.
-
How is The Guest Register different from the others?
The Guest Register offers a unique service that may not be offered by anyone
else. You can easily create a site with as many pages as you need. (No web
development experience is necessary. We make it easy!) Use your site to
coordinate your reunion as well as to keep family members in-touch between
reunions. The Guest Register allows all family members to post a photo and
biography and update them as often as they wish.
Post hotel information, family photos, maps, directions -- and even collect
payment for events! No more cashing checks and managing all the payments as
they come in. The Guest Register will process all payments through our secure
credit card system and send a check to the reunion organizer on a monthly
basis.
Use your site each time there is an all-family event. Create a page for a
family member's funeral and post all directions times and other information
that can be difficult to communicate. New babies in the family? Post stats and
photos. Post wedding pictures, graduation announcements, awards, anything you
as the webmaster deem appropriate.
-
Who will be able to view our Family Website?
Family Websites are password protected so that only those in your family can
access your site. Family members can choose whether they want their contact
information posted or not. If they do choose to share it on the website, they
can be assured that only those who know the site Event Number and Password will
be viewing the site.
-
How will our Family Reunion Website increase attendance at our
reunion?
As you know, it can be challenging to locate some family members. Once you have
set up your unique Family Reunion Website at The Guest Register, word will
travel quickly through your family. People will find the site as they hear
about it from other family members and then you won’t have to find them! Also,
pre-reunion jitters affect some family members before the big event. Reunions
can be intimidating. As family members read the bios of others and are actually
able to contact them before the reunion, they become more comfortable with the
idea of showing up at the event.
How Does It Work?
-
How do I get started?
Be sure to view the How It Works section on our site for a concise,
easy-to-understand overview of how the service works. After you have filled in
the Sign Up information, we will set your site up and contact you with your
unique Event ID Number and Password. With this information, you can begin
setting up your site. No need to have any web experience, our tool makes it
easy! If you need assistance just call us. You can upload your family crest,
design your site with colors, post all reunion or other activities, upload
photos, and so much more!
-
What information do I need to provide?
We simply need a contact name or two along with your family name to get
started. From there it is up to you. Post all of the information that you wish
to share with your family. You may include reunion dates, times, directions,
photos, fun facts, photos, family contact info, volunteer lists, whatever you
like…
-
When is the best time to sign up and create a site?
Before a Reunion
We find many families post their site several months to a year before their
reunion — in time to use the site as a “meeting ground” for the family to find
out information about an upcoming reunion, register for events and make
payments.
Between Reunions
Other families get through their whole reunion and then realize how much easier
the planning would have been if they had a website. They will set the site up
after the reunion and include all the contact information that they worked so
hard to attain. They then communicate to their family members that they can
keep their contact information up-to-date until the next reunion. (This greatly
simplifies finding people for the next reunion.) Your family can stay in touch
with each others’ updates by requesting an email when specific people update
their bio.
-
How can we use the site to recruit and organize volunteers?

You can create a custom page using our proprietary WebBuilder functionality. You
can list all of your volunteer needs on this page and request that family
members email you if they are interested. As people volunteer, you can post
their name to the appropriate task on the page.
-
We just had our reunion. Why is it a good time to create a site now?

When families discover our service after our reunion, they often want to sign up
right away. What a great place to post the photos from your recent reunion!
This gets your family members to the site and helps you get a jump on your next
reunion. As you already know, planning a reunion is a time consuming task.
Collecting contact information alone can be overwhelming. Using The Guest
Register as a central database that family members can access every time their
contact information changes, ensures that the next reunion will be much easier
to plan. Also, after a reunion many family members are excited to stay in
touch. The site gives them a place to access others' contact information at any
time.
-
How long can we keep our Family Reunion Website up?

You may keep your site up as long as you wish. After you sign up your family
will have access to your site for 12 months, this is included as part of your
one-time set up fee of $249. After that, if you wish, your family can have
access to your site for a monthly hosting fee of just $10. We give
families an easy place to keep in touch and up-to-date on each others’ lives
even if they can not keep in close contact. Many families keep their sites up
for years so that when the next reunion comes along, they have an up-to-date
database with which to begin. It also gives family members a place to check
periodically from year to year for reunion information.
-
How secure is our Family Reunion Website?
All Family Websites are password protected so that only those in your family can
access your site. Individuals can choose whether they want their contact
information posted or not. If they do choose to share it on the website, they
can be assured that only those who know the site Event Number and Password will
be viewing the site. We use Verisign state of the art secure technology to
process all credit card transactions, so your family can be assured that paying
online is safe and secure.
What Will Our Site Contain?
-
What can we post on our Family Reunion Website?
You may post anything that you wish on your website. Most families include the
details for all reunion events. You may also add your family crest, desired
colors, photos from the past or present, reunion volunteer needs, fun facts
about family members, surveys, family accomplishments of note, whatever you
wish to share!
Your family members each have their own page on your site where they can post a
bio and current photo. Ask about adding a secure bulletin board chat room
for $25!
-
Can we collect payment for events on the website?
Yes, simply post the events that you wish family members to pay for along with
their cost and we will collect credit card payments for you. You can check RSVP
and payment reports online at anytime 24x7 so that you always know who is
planning to attend and who has paid. We will send you a check each month for
the monies collected.
-
Can we display photos on the site?
Yes, you can display family photos, new baby photos, old snapshots as well as
current photos and photos from your recent reunion. Your photos need to be in
either .jpeg or .gif format. Please call us if you have any questions. If
you do not have access to a scanner for non-digital images, you may mail up to
35 photos to us and we will scan and upload them for you. (While we will take
every precaution to return the photos to you in their original condition, we
cannot guarantee this.)
-
What information can family members put on the site?
Family members may post any biography information that they wish to share from
basic contact information (name, address, phone, email) to a brief narrative
about their life. Family members find it fun to look up where their relatives
have landed. Knowing more information on certain people often makes it easier
to get over those pre-reunion jitters and often increases attendance!
-
Can family members use the site to stay in-touch between reunions?
Yes, family members can access the site at any time to reference anyone contact
info and bio. (The only exception to this is if someone decides that they do
not wish their information to be viewable on the site for privacy reasons.) One
unique feature that The Guest Register provides is the ability for family
members to elect to receive email notification when specific family members
update their bios.
-
Does The Guest Register offer privacy protection?
Yes, your data and that of your family is viewable only by those who have been
given your Event Number and password. Family members can dictate whether their
contact information is viewable on the site or only accessible by the reunion
organizer. The Guest Register does not rent, sell or in any way share any
contact information with any other sources. Please see our privacy
policy for more information.
